Fourth generation from a family of vine-growers, Bernard Defaix started with 2 ha in 1959. From this period, a method to protect the vineyard against spring frost was discovered. Thanks to this, the vine-growers could be sure to have a minimum of harvest every year and so they began to develop stable trade markets. The two sons of Bernard have been managing the domain since twenty years or so. Sylvain is in charge of the vinification, the ageing, the bottling and the preparation of orders. Didier takes care of the vineyard and the general management of the domain. Helene, Didier’s wife, looks after the administrative and the commercial part. So, from the vine to the final customer, the family looks after all the operations!

The grape harvest is undertaken manually, and the output is monitored in order to produce high quality wines. Ageing takes place in century old oak casks. Founded in 1976 by Michel and Lucette Briday from 6.5 Ha, we run the operation now has 15 hectares in the municipalities of Rully, Bouzeron and Mercurey. Our vision of Burgundy wines is simple: The wine is made in the vineyard. Each region is unique. Must be respected in order to provide complexity, richness and minerality. It is in this spirit that we reduce the maximum inputs in viticulture. The health of the grapes must be as perfect as possible to produce balanced wines whose fruit explodes. We intervene as little as possible to meet each local winery and wine making each one unique product. Our goal is to control the quality to offer, whatever the vintage, the best of our wines.

In this family estate established in 1947, the Brusset family has managed to combine the "savoir faire" of traditional winemaking with the new techniques introduced by each generation. The founder, André Brusset (1910-1999), his son Daniel, and his grand-son Laurent : three wine-growers and wine-makers with a variety of experiences have all contributed to the distinctive character of the Domaine Brusset, where three complementary generations together have achieved the best results.
