This vineyard, high biodynamic since 1988, is owned by Anne-Marie and Jean-louis Charmolüe since 2006 (former owners of Château Montrose, Second Grand Cru Classé Saint-Estèphe). Château Val-joanis is located in the Luberon, east of Avignon and north of Aix-en-Provence in the south of the Rhône Valley, on the site of an ancient Roman villa, whose foundations are emerging still on the bottom of the property.
