The eco-phyto plan in numbers – reducing and improving the use of pesticides in France

Wednesday 17 June 2015

Agroecology will have a major impact upon all agricultural practices in France, and will affect all food sector operators as they adopt and progressively implement its principals. 3 major pillars steer the “Agriculture, producing in a different way” plan, outlined by the France’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry:

AGRICULTURES ALTERNATIVE APPROACH TO FARMING – FRANCE’S AGROECOLOGY PROJECT

The Ecophyto plan

The aim of the Ecophyto plan is to reduce France’s dependency on pesticides products, while maintaining agricultural methods that are effective both ecologically and economically. Consumers now expect products of high quality and in sufficient quantity. In June 2015, Stephane Le Foll, French Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, announced an updated, more effective version of the Ecophyto plan.
